IT'S MAGIC !! "OSAMA" BECOMES "USAMA"

I find this fascinating.

Usama versus Osama.   Some news agencies report the ( now deceased )  terrorist's first name as "Osama" bin Laden, while a few... including Fox News, report his first name as "Usama".

Why?

It's fairly obvious why, of course.  "Osama" is a little too uncomfortably close to "Obama" ( our current President's last name ) in sound and perhaps a little too easy to misstep with, in speaking or reporting on the news.  But, is this a good thing?  Should we accept changing the spelling and pronounciation of anything or anyone's name , simply because of some political deference to the President?

I did a little research on Usama versus Osama and I focused on reports coming from the Fox News agency. I found that Fox News has retroactively changed their printed online reports , altering reports that had been using the name Osama, and changing to Usama. In fact this appears to have been done recently.

Here's an interesting example;

The New York Post, on their web site,  recently linked one of their pages to a news story from Fox News.

On the New York Post news web site..., there a small extract from the Fox News report..., essentally allowing visitors to the New York Post site to see part of the story linked-to from Fox News.

On the New York Post site, the report starts this way...;

" Osama bin Laden appeared to be "reaching for a weapon" before he was shot by the U.S. team raiding his compound in Pakistan, a senior U.S. official told Fox News. "

That's right.  The first name of the Terrorist , as seen on the New York Post web site is "Osama".  Now, keep in mind they are "linking" to the story that actually appears on the Fox News web site.

...BUT...

If you then were to select the link , provided on the New York Post web site..., to take you to the "full" news story on the Fox News web site..., you will magically see the name "Osama" transform iteslf into the name "Usama".   Abracadabra!!

Obviously there is an editing platform in use , probably very recently and probably automatic,  that changes the name Osama to Usama.

Is this a good thing?  Personally, I don't care very much except that it smacks of political influence on the news. I can only speculate, but one of two things probably happened.  Either reporters , on their own, were making too many flubs ..., reporting the name Osama, as Obama..., or someone from the Obama administration requested that the name of the terrorist be altered in reports in order to more cleanly disambiguate the terrorist from the President.

You can see the humorous transformation of Osama to Usama for yourself by following the link below.  It will take you to the New York Post web site where the story has the name Osama, and then you can click the link at the bottom of the story to see Osama change to Usama.

DONALD TRUMP IS NOT THE ENEMY

Donald Trump, is not our enemy.   Lately we have been treated in the news to such notable and scholarly columnists as Charles Krauthammer calling Trump a "buffoon" a "clown" a "showboat" a "liar" and "the Al Sharpton of the Republican Party"....but....but... he says that he "respects" Trump as a businessman and a private citizen. Huh? Did I miss something there Charles? You're entitled to your opinion, but I didn't feel any "respect" radiating from you for The Donald.   Michelle Malkin has called him a thief stealing property by "eminent domain" and kicking low income homeowners and small buisnessmen off their properties with the help of the government so that he can expand his casinos. She also accuses him of subsidising his businesses on the backs of taxpayers.  Is it true?  Absolutely!  But..., its also not quite as cut and dried as Michelle's articles it lay out. Seek out the information for yourself, read Trump's responses to the criticism and make up your own mind after getting both sides.

Others, from Bill Kristol, to Ann Coulter, to a number of Conservative blogs..., have been ripping into Trump with a stepped-up vigor.
But , keep something in mind.  Trump is indeed a "very" hardcore business baron and people who he finds in his way as he moves forward may get stepped on.  If you like Trump..., if you like his way of cutting to the chase and like his bluster and bravado..., if you like his "take no prisoners" attitude, then you will need to accept that this is part of his character..., and that there are some unpleasant sides to his behavior that have shaped who he is.

I would like to politically caution my fellow Conservatives in the elite beltway of classified commentators and analysts, not to get too far ahead of yourselves with regard to attacking Donald Trump.  I sincerely..., truly... mean it when I say that all of these very intelligent and savvy and highly capable purveyors of punditry and policy-analysis appear to have missed the point.  They have missed the huge sky-high towering reason of why Trump is out in front of all the other currently positioned contenders. And it truly has nothing to do with birth certificates, or calling for school transcripts, or talking about taking oil from the middle east.   In fact, the reason The Donald has it over all the others at the moment , can be boiled down to one simple phrase. And here it is....,  "He Be All Up In Obama's Grill"... ( to use an urban expression.).

The Donald has essentially kicked dirt on the umpire. He has pointed a finger in the President's face, and told him that he's no good.  And he said it very clearly, very plainly, and then he set out to show Obama that a private citizen can put more heat under the President's behind than all the other politicans put together in DC, and over a fringe issue like the birth certificate.   People ..."like"... Donald Trump.  I'm sorry guys... but it's true.  People do LIKE this.  The frustration, the anger, the gritting and grinding of teeth in the general electorate over the sad and sorry America-last attitude and disasterous policies of the Obama administration have set the nation's nerves on edge, and Trump knows it.  He knows it very well and he knows exactly what the people want to see.  So he gave it to us.

To our friends in the star studded gallery of comentators and analysts..., please..., put your long knives away and stop slashing at Trump.  Criticize him, but do it with an intellectual argument and be respectful of the fact that a lot people really LIKE what he's been doing... and .... again... it's not because of a birth certificate challenge.  I know, and I understand that many Conservatives are worried about Trump becoming the nominee, because he's not really a Conservative.  True.  I know this, and ... please pay attention here... the people WILL see that.  They will. And it will be  in plenty of time for those people to ease into backing a different candidate.   As soon as The Donald starts clarifying the details of his policy views, starts laying out real plans... IF he even gets into the race..., people will begin to scratch their heads and say..."wait a minute, I don't think this is what I want to vote for".

So there is no need to start alienating lots and lots and lots of people by attacking Donald Trump right now , he is being publically and silently cheered for his willingness to make it an old fashioned showdown in the streets with Obama. And remember, he's standing on the same side as we are.  Save the political arrows to launch at the Democrats and let Trump be Trump.

And one last thing.  Just so you know.  I do not support The Donald.  I support Michele Bachmann , I think she'd make a great President, and a far better one than Trump would. BUT...., if it happens... if by some twist of fate Trump becomes the Republican nominee.... that is not a "bad" thing.  Keep that in mind.  He "can" and "will" beat Obama, if it comes down to that.

STOP DEFENDING THE 2011 BUDGET DEAL

John Boehner is a good guy, a decent man, and it troubles me to have to be critical of him while he's trying to establish his leadership position in the House Of Representatives, but he needs to "STOP" trying to defend this budget agreement... as if it were something great. We all know it fell monumentally short of what it should have been, of what it "could" have been. I would urge John Boehner to always keep in mind that the "only" reason he is Speaker Of The House is because of us, the people of the nation who rallied to push back against the rising tide of government intrusion into our lives and an endlessly expanding federal addiction to spending... and voted "against" that old school of doing business in DC by "allowing" Republicans to have one more chance to prove they can clean up our nation's capital. We are not merely watching what's going on in DC, we are engaged and insisting that dramatic and deep and swift alterations to spending, debt, and taxation be fought HARD for..., that promises be kept. We did not send a new congress to DC to be compromisers and to find ways to get along with the enemies of fiscal reform, we sent them there to be the instrument of the electorate's will to stop the suicidal course of permanent financial ruin we are headed for in this nation.

THE DEBT CEILING - TOO DANGEROUS TO STOP

Really?  I sat there in stunned disbelief as I read the following quote...

" If President Obama knew then what he knows now, he would not have voted against raising the debt limit in 2006. " , according to his current Press Secretary.

So, Mr. President, you would like us to take solace in the notion that five years ago you were an incompetent boob, a robotic partisan hack who claimed falsely at the time to be taking a principled stand....,  and that becoming President has made you into a brilliant economist who understands the dire nuances and  grave consequences associated with our nation's debt... and there is NOW nothing at all partisan or hack-like in your whining and fear mongering over the debt ceiling? How exactly do we know that you still are not that same incompetent partisan-hack boob of five years ago? You've not presented any evidence of a change in economic philosophy or moral compass.  If this wasn't so sad it would be hilarious.  So, Mr. President, you are telling us that when the throngs of the nation's electorate voted you into office, you were an ignorant mouthpiece who had no knowledge of how the country's economy functions? This would seem to be the admission.  Well, I've heard it said that confession is good for the soul. And now, we are supposed to follow YOUR lead?  That would make the rest of us out to be fools too.

HOW TO DEFEAT REPUBLICANS - WE KNOW THE MINE FIELD

Unless the agreed-upon budget bill fails to pass on a vote in the coming days, the next big showdown will very likely be over raising the national Debt Ceiling. I know that a lot of people were disappointed in the small gains in spending reductions and cuts achieved in friday night's last minute agreement for fiscal 2011 between the House and the Senate, I was disappointed as well that it didn't go further. However, this was a proving ground of sorts, like a test firing range to sharpen the targeting skills of the troops and to see how far we could get without having to shut down the operation. I think Boehner and the fiscal conservatives learned something important. There were two very distinctly opposed positions and two very different sets of tactical measures employed. Harry Reid and his constituents and fellow Democrats dusted off the old manual on how to defeat Republicans and started laying their old surplus mines. The problem is that their manual is decades behind times and does not see the new problems facing our nation in the same way the rest of the country does. To the Democrats, it's all about preserving the old fortress in DC against an invasion of reformers who want to change the inbred failed processes.

But we know this mine field the Democrats have laid.  We've been through it before, and we have the map.  We can just walk right around it if we have the stomach to really engage this fight.  The old anti-personel mines of "Republicans Are Against Women", "Republicans Want To Starve Seniors", "Republicans Want Old People To Die"... are duds and well-defined duds at that, and we can simply step right over them because we have a vision that is greatly clarified and we have tanks with canons aimed squarely at the debt crisis and tax burdens faced by our nation.  When the people support a war effort, the warriors are emboldened and strengthened, and the great majority support this war effort against the destruction of our country's future solvency.

Our Republican congressmen need to learn from this previous battle over the budget, and come out stronger than before, understanding that the vast majority of the nation will stand behind them only when they are willing to fight without compromise against the crushing debt our government continues to mount, and to remember always that "we the people" are at ground-zero in this war. If they fail, we feel it here, and our children will feel it doubly hard down the road.

GEORGE WASHINGTON VERSUS PRESIDENT OBAMA

George Washington...; ( November 15th, 1781..)

" If men are to be precluded from offering their sentiments on a matter which may involve the most serious and alarming consequences that can invite the consideration of mankind, reason is of no use to us; the freedom of speech may be taken away, and dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter "

George Washington was speaking to troops of the Continental Army who were becoming agitated that they had not recieved pay..., even for years after the Revolutionary War had ended..., soldiers who fought bravely, sometimes with little more than rags on their backs and feet and bayonets in hand,  to free this country from the British Monarchy. They were patriots, every one, who asked only that the congress do what they had promised and provide the soldiers with back pay and pensions.  The congress could not pay the soldiers because the states refused to send the money . Washington pleaded with the army for patience as the government worked out a way to pay the soldiers.

I bring this up now, only because lately we have been treated to the high demagoguery of a potential lapse in military pay as a reason why an impasse over reducing the burdens placed on the people of this nation by massive government overspending , should be reason enough to stand down from any uncompromising position.  In other words, those who wish to stand firm and resolute against the moral and ethical outrage of our government's unconscionable additction to monolithic debt, should back down now if it means any immedate problem with delivering military pay. The President and the congressional Democrats have employed a tactic in fomenting fear and panic in the families of our courageous military heores in order to divide the country, to play the burdens on the private workforce of our nation against the rightful pay of soldiers who defend us.  We need to see this as the false choice that it is.  There is no need to compromise the rights of either of these groups of citizens.  The Republicans, who have always been staunch allies of our military men and women, have proffered a bill in congress to fund the army through September of this year, in a stand alone measure.  The President, the Commander In Chief of our armed forces, who should have the best concerns of our front line defenders of liberty at heart,   has proven his disloyalty to our men and women in arms by refusing to even consider signing such a bill.

There is no more time to relent on the rising burden that will weigh upon future generations like a mountain, the solvency of our country must not be held hostage to politcal gamesmanship.  The fight to stop the endless overspending, dissolve the debt, and free our nation from a future in which we are chained forever to the millwheel of the federal government , working to feed that monster night and day until we have no time to feed ourselves and our families.., must start now, and must be one of no further compromise.
