A VICTORY FOR IGNORANCE - A DANGER FOR EVERYONE

There's nothing more dangerous to our political institutions than ignorant voters. Whether corralled and herded to the voting booth by voter cattle drives as means of mindlessly stuffing the ballot box, or well intentioned citizens who want to do thier civic duty and vote but don't pay attention until 24 hours before election day and only know the candidates by a few quick commercial sound bites. To potentially tip the balance of any election of the leadership of our country based on a mass of ignorant uninformed voters is a genuine shame, especially when it doesn't have to happen that way. Dissemination of facts to the public is what an election campaign should be all about. The rest of it is up to us, the average "informed" citizen standing on a soap box and spreading the news to as many friends and neighbors and associates as possible, and finally to the individual who intends to vote.., to take the steps necessary to learn all they can about the candidates. But we live in a time of instant gratification and an overflow of information coming at us from all angles Where we expect that anything we need to know can be learned in minutes. The age of information has made it imperative to take time. to step back, and try to discern truth, from innuendo, from outright lies.  But today anyone can be made to seem as if they are providing legitimate information because once trustworthy sources of news have become tainted outposts of biased opinion and very few of the politically ignorant people bother to check facts and look for corroboration. Also, with the advent of a massive influx of information, attention spans have dwindled.  There is so much distraction that staying focused is now a real effort. It's become easy to wander off into a maze of misinformation. If Barack Obama ends up winning this election, it will be a victory of ignorance, a triumph of distraction from fact, and evidence that we have a lot of work to do to make politics a more important matter for a large segment of our population.

POLLING DATA - DYING IS OUR ONLY CHOICE

Well, the trend with pundits and pollsters is now this. They say... "If Obama wins...., X.....,( X being whatever state they think will decide it all).... then it's all over. Go home, go to bed, give it up all of you Republicans". So, we are supposed to keep an eye on either Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Virginia..., or whatever..., you name it..., and if we see Obama winning that particular state then we shouldn't bother voting , it's just a waste of time to try, and we should go home and prepare for an Obama presidency. Rassmussen was trying this nonsense today on Fox News, "If Virginia breaks early for Obama.... it's all over"..., he says. Others say, "If Obama wins Pennsylvania it's over", "If Obama wins Florida it's over", and of course none of them think McCain has any chance anyways. So why bother having an election? According to pundits all we need to know is told to us in the current polls. Since the polls are treated the same as if the actual voting has already taken place, lets just average all the opinion polls right now, and give the presidency this afternoon to whoever is ahead, which of course will be Obama. Then we don't have to "waste" our time being involved in our country's future by exercising our constitutional right to vote, we can just let pollsters decide who will win based on the response to thier crafted opinion poll questions. And why stop at the Presidential election? Let's do this for all elections at the state level, as well as elected judges, sheriffs...., Polls for Everyone. We can change the name of our country to Poll-land! This will guarantee that the Democrats win every time in a national election since national polling data is always weighted in favor of Democrats. And since that will be the case, there's no point in any opposition party, so we may as well disband the Republican party, and we may as well stop criticizing anything Democrats do since that won't change the polling data.  Freedom of the press or free speech basically becomes a moot point. And since we would have no control over our destiny, why bother working? The government will be taking care of everything that the old-fashioned idea of independence and free market Capitalism once offered to citizens. So that's it. Then why bother living?  The government under Democrat domination will legalize assisted suicide and make Dr. Jack Kevorkian's death machines available to everyone, and we can just slip out of existence as our country melts down into a socialist cesspool of failing systems that were meant to feed, clothe, house and care for us all from the cradle to the grave. With no incentive to achieve more than mediocrity we will finally fall from being a superpower to being a third world nation that can't afford to sustain itself under an ever increasing tax burden. Isn't this great?  This is basically what we can look forward to ,if we simply put all our faith in pollsters. Personally, I don't care who says "it's over", it isn't over until the votes are counted. They can try to tell me I shouldn't bother voting, but they won't succeed in delivering that sucker punch to "me".  I intend to be the first one in line at my local polling station on election day. And if the pollsters and pundits don't appreciate it, they can know where they can stick thier polling data.

THE LAST GASP OF THE NEW YORK TIMES

Newspapers, such as the New York Times, are agenda driven and they attempt to shape opinion with thier choice of stories, they do not let events determine what is news worthy. The constantly declining circulation proves that they are sinking to feeding an ever tightening niche audience of radicals who expect partisan attacks on any political issue rather than fair and balanced and truthful reporting. They print for thier spoon fed audiences and not for the wide open masses. The new media, the blogosphere, talk radio, XM, newsletters that cater to individual tastes, and networks like Fox News that are not driven by an inside agenda but rather by delivering a factual accounting of the  events of the day or the week..., have served to cut down once giant news media machines like the NY Times to the point where they only appeal to thier own rigidly ideological readership.  The Audit Bureau of Circulations reports that the daily version of the NY Times is at a current circulation of 1,077,256 which is down from the previous year, and they continue to sink.

Now, on to the latest attacks on Sarah Palin. At a recent fund raising event she said the following ;

"We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, pro-America areas of this great nation. This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans. Those who are running our factories and teaching our kids and growing our food and are fighting our wars for us. Those who are protecting us in uniform. Those who are protecting the virtues of freedom."

For this innocent statement she has been ridiculed, derided, and in general attacked as she always is by the politically motivated left wing press for every statement she makes on anything at all.  The mistake Sarah made here, and always makes,  is that she forgets she's not allowed to express her own opinion.  Her opinion of what makes America great must  match the views of the left wing press, or she's ridiculed as a rube from an outland of snowblind posers. Well, Sarah said it herself back at her convention speech, she's not going to DC to please the media.  And we love that attitude in her. We love it when the liberal press is flummoxed and angry and panicked and flabergasted at Sarah, because it exposes them for the hyper-partisan yellow dog Democrats they are, as they attempt to hide behind a window dressing of impartiality and fairness. Sarah is absolutely correct to point out that some areas of our country produce a higher ratio of openly displayed genuine patriotism than others. We all know, even the liberal press knows..., that there are rabid anti-American hate mongers foaming at the mouth in all sorts of places around our country.  Barack Obama could introduce you to several of the more prominent ones since he has allied himself with some of the most vicious examples. We have been long exposed to the inbred hatered of middle America by the liberals of this country who think that the average American is a racist, redneck ingnoramus... as that fumble-mouthed idiot congressman John Murtha recently expressed. The entire Democrat leadership on Captiol Hill could easily be declared a gaggle of facist anti-American anti-patriotic narcissists. They held our troops in Iraq hostage time after time by fighting against success, against funding, and deriding the effort at every turn.  It's about time we have some courageous political figure like Governor Palin to point out that this country does have a distinct lack of patriotism in some circles. We already know this is the truth, but it takes a real leader to state fearlessly that fact in an open forum in front of a hostile media. Sarah has what it takes to do that. Frankly we'd all be much better off with  a President Palin than a President Obama or a President Biden.

OBAMA AWARENESS MONTH...

I've noticed that almost every topic and subject matter now has an "Awareness Month". So, I thought , why not have an "Obama" awareness month?  Therefore, I am declaring that this month is "National Obama Is An Empty Suit Awareness Month". If you are someone who wears a suit regularly please be sure to carry an extra "empty" suit around with you this month in order to focus awareness on this important subject matter. Communities are encouraged to organize "Empty" rallies where you can donate an empty suit to your local ACORN chapter manager to be distributed to all the empty spaces occupied by the voters they have registered who don't exist. A spokesperson for the New York City branch of ACORN which is called the "Volunteer Organization for Mobilizing Indigent Turnout" (VOMIT) said today they have registered 500 homeless street vagrants as Democrats and urged them to the polls for Obama. ACORN executive Ahma Lyre, the Senior Manager in charge of hiding Obama's connections with ACORN said they would be happy to donate any empty "Obama suits" they receive to VOMIT as an incentive for thier indigent voter drive. In a statement released this morning, Lyre said the following;

"We need to work together as fraud inciters and scheming liars to insure that Barack Obama has a massive support network of stupefied homeless drunks, burned out drug addicts, corpses, convicts, cartoon characters and unverifiable polling data to prop him up all the way to the White House. He promised us that we would be setting the agenda for his administration and we intend to carry him there no matter how much fraud we need to commit. We will work with "President" Obama on reshaping this country into a social playground for our liberal indoctrination agenda."

So let's make sure everyone is "aware" this month that Obama's real record is one of radical social activism, alliance with fraud-manipulating community organizations and terror sympathizers, with a real congressional track of vote avoidance and lack of leadership.

By the way... Where oh where has Senator Biden gone? We've been hearing a lot lately from the media about Sarah and the allegedly hate-filled rallies full of rabble rousing peasants with torches and pitchforks..., but an ominous emptiness from the Biden front. Could he have been proving to be a bit of a liability to THE ONE? Have Obama's poll numbers been rattled by the nonsense from Biden's mouth? McCain should have asked him about that at the Debate.  I suspect Obama daily regrets having selected Biden as his running mate.

LUNTZ FOCUS GROUP - PALIN SWAYED VIEWERS TO CHOOSE HER AND MCCAIN

If you were watching Fox News Last night you may have seen the focus group that Frank Luntz put together to view the debate. Half Kerry supporters half Bush supporters.  After the VP debate he asked the group how many thought Sarah Palin own. Almost all of them agreed that she won. Some of them said that she convinced them to change thier minds. The common wisdom in the media is that the VP debate was not a game changer, but I think it was..., the liberal media just won't admit it. I think most people were like Frank's focus group. Sarah has a way of talking straight to the people, and I think she reached a lot of people last night.

KATIE COURIC AND CHARLES GIBSON NO LONGER EXIST

Grace under fire, charm in the lion's den, impact in the red zone. Tonight , if you watched the Vice Presidential debate, you saw what real change means.  You saw a creaky senate relic named Joe Biden give a tired old boilerplate political response filled with inaccuracies, to all his questions. And you saw a charming, refreshing, high spirited, well spoken neighbor of yours named Sarah Palin look you in the eyes and with an optimistic high-five tell you "I know what you want Government to do, because I walk the same streets you walk". But let's clear something up with some "straight talk" as Senator McCain might remark. The pundits tonight mostly praised Sarah, while the Obama hacks nit-picked at some of the questions she didn't give full fledged answers to.  But all the praise was still too subdued. What really happened is that Governor Sarah Palin kicked Joe Biden's butt. She did not let him get away with trying to obfuscate his and Obama's records on taxes and the war. She ripped his lies up and threw them right back at him and she did it with charm and a smile on her face. She also did not confine herself to the Moderator's narrow questions but was determined to use her response time to talk about whatever she felt was most important. She took control of the debate format and made the points she wanted to make. Also she did not concede that "global warming" was a man made problem, she understands that climate change is primarily a natural force, while Biden said it was all man made and that our man made global warming was melting the polar ice caps. ( hand him a dunce cap). She sparred with Biden on foriegn policy and showed grit by making sure she got the point across that General Petraeus did not agree with Obama's withdrawal plans. But what was most evident, most clear, is that she is a regular everyday mainstreet woman taking her hometown values and her down to earth way of speaking into the DC eilte arena ..., and they can't compete with her on that level. When Sarah broke into her local dialect at times with her Alaskan accent coming through it was so endearing and so refreshing that even Biden had to smile at it.  What is so striking is really how much Sarah is on a level with the rest of us in terms of knowing what we do and what we care about.  In a very charming interview after the debate, Greta Van Susteren spoke by remote camera with Sarah's brother and sister at a local party they were having in Wasilla Alaska to celebrate Sarah's debate night.  Every question Greta posed to them was answered very straight and very simply with no expansive details, just "yes", "no"  or a brief comment about thier feelings. Sarah and her family are just regular folks, not long winded elite politicians. Most of what they had to express was loud cheers as they waved McCain/Palin signs in the background. And of course they had reason to be very happy. That's the feeling I think we all have about Sarah.  Also what Sarah did tonight was to sweep Katie Couric and Charles Gibson into the media gutter and render her critics powerless. Awesome job tonight Governor Palin, just awesome!

VP DEBATE MODERATOR CALLS REPUBLICANS TERRORISTS

Republican politicians, and particularly Conservatives , are tougher than anyone else in politics today.  They need to be, since they are the endless target of nearly all mainstream press smears, screeching left wing zealots supporting every social taboo in existence, and backstabbing political colleagues in the Democrat party. If, despite all this, Conservative politicians stand fast on thier principles then they are by far the toughest politicians around this country today and very worthy leaders. By contrast, Liberal Democrat politicians today can be soft, squishy, and cowardly..., and still be liberal. They get petted by the media, cheered by the screaming extremists, and get thier way with jelly spined moderates in the Republican party. They need exert very little effort to be who they are.  And, Democrat politicians don't need to concern themselves that moderators at debates between Republican and Democrat might be lopsided conservative Republican supporters. They won't be. Never have been.  So, where does that bring us?  Nowhere.  The upcoming debate between Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Joe Biden is being moderated by a woman named Gwen Ifill, who loathes Republicans. Wow.., that's a surprise ( not ). Here's a quote from the gracious Gwen Ifill commenting on Senate Republcians who, in 1998, defeated a bill for campaign finance reform, and Ms. Ifill was obviously not happy that the Senate Republicans expressed satisfaction at having done so..., Here's her quote...,

"It was a bill that was doomed to die. The last time you heard people so eager to claim responsibility for something like this, they were terrorists." — NBC reporter Gwen Ifill, February 27 Washington Week in Review on PBS. ( source = https://www.mediaresearch.org/notablequotables/bestof/1998/best7-9.asp )

Yes, she called Republicans terrorists. This is the fair minded level headed moderator who will be throwing questions of her own design at Sarah Palin.  Now..., don't misunderstand. I actually think this wonderful. What better way to contrast the differences between a strident Liberal extremist woman and a strong confident everyday Conservative woman?  Sarah will come out fine from this, and even more so if Ms. Ifill stoops to trying to sabotage Sarah Palin. If Ms. Ifill gets testy with her Sarah should just flash that friendly smile, answer the questions smoothly, and show that she's not the least bit rattled by spiteful left wing windbags. Nothing irks Liberals more than having no effect on the people they target.

FANTASY PUNDITS VS. SARAH PALIN - GO BACK TO BED

I have a question for those gnostic intelligentsia Conservative pundits out there who have decided to declare unfit the Vice Presidential candidacy of Governor Sarah Palin, because she didn't meet the "high" expectations of an interview with Katie Couric. Do you really believe that how one genuflects before the sophistry of Couric and Gibson and the usual suspects of the narcissistic media is the definition of leadership?  Spare me your self-styled demagoguery and go back to punditizing your fantasies of angels that float down from the heavenly ether to grant you your perfect omnipotent political leader. I'll root my expectations in the "real" world..., if you don't mind. Some may recall all the flack Couric took when she made the move to CBS to take over anchoring the CBS Evening News. They said she was inexperienced, and lacked the credentials.  After all, how could this woman..., fill the shoes of those giants before her, Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather. Was there some sexism going on?  Probably, but, she was given a chance to do the job and prove if she could handle it. Sarah Palin has proven that she can handle an executive position. She has proven she can fight for the average citizen and win those battles with strength, confidence, and a genuine smile on her face.  Now, the media has left it up to the quality of dubious sound-bite banter with the likes of Kaite Couric, Charles Gibson, and a few disenchanted analysts and egocentric intellectuals to decipher the worth of her leadership.  What a lot of embarassingly vapid commentary rolling off the tongues of alleged objective reporters.  I continue to be disgusted with the news media in general, and now I even have to sit here and depose the cranky desperation of some knee-jerk Conservatives who can't get past the fact that as VP it is Sarah Palin's most important role to convince the country of the value of a John McCain presidency.  Get over it.  Sarah Palin is qualified to take the role of VP, moreso in my opinion than the highly fallible misanthropic Joe Biden.  A famous philosopher, William F. Buckley Jr..., who sadly passed away recently, once said... "I would rather be governed by the first 2000 names in the Boston phone book than by the Harvard faculty.". I agree with the late Mr. Buckley.  Give me the common citizen's sense of a down-to-earth approach to governance of someone who is closer to the everyday person and more in touch, of someone like Sarah Palin..., rather than the self-aggrandizing snobbery of a Joe Biden or a Barack Obama, any day. Ronald Reagan believed in the virtue and basic common sense of everyday citizens leading the country to greatness,  and so do I.

THE PROBLEM WITH PRESIDENT BUSH - WE OWN THIS ECONOMY - THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT

President Bush is a great man, and in the past has been a great leader for this nation in times of national crisis, such as the terror attacks on 9/11/2001.  President Bush loves this country and the people. When he took the oval office from Clinton I personally breathed a sigh of relief that we had integrity restored to the Presidency. For me to criticize President Bush , my opposition must be truly so strident that I can find no common ground with his stated policy. So it is... I have a profound practical and ideological disagreement with President Bush's approach to the resolution of some economic strife that has been causing some very large banks and finance companies to fall, or at least teeter on the brink. My world view is one of a Conservative approach to fiscal and social matters. When President Bush holds a conference in front of a window on the world and states that we are on the brink of disaster I have no doubt that he believes it. But when he tells us.. the people of the United States, that the disaster is the failure of banks that have made ( or been forced by bad regulations to make...) bad loan decisions..  and that there is no time to wait, debate, argue or discuss any other approach to fixing this problem excepting the direct infusion of 700+ billion dollars of this country's taxpayer money into a machine to be operated by one man, Secretary of the Treasury, to buy up bad/defaulted/foreclosed loans from private companies... I have to put my foot down on the brake. There is something intuitively wrong with that single-minded narrowly focused view of a fix. Conservatism demands a pull back and re-examination of this problem. An attempt has been made to frighten the nation into a rash, uncertain and ( in many people's opinion..) ill-advised move to trust the federal government to fix an economic fallout that as yet.... has not been "proven" to be without optional approaches, and has not been proven to be the end of the United States economy, and has not been proven to be beyond free market methods of correction. Everyone in this country is overtaxed. That includes those making over, and under, $250,000 a year. Congress can only do one thing, appropriate and spend money.  How much of it they spend, is up to you and me. That's right. We are not powerless mimes in a play being hosted by the federal government. Quite the opposite.  They don't go to Capitol Hill unless we give them permission. That's why our Senators and Representatives get very nervous when their phone lines start ringing off the hook with irate voters calling them, and thier email systems break down under a tidal wave of angry constituents making thier presence felt. They can go to DC and play with our tax money , but when we start putting the heat on them , reminding them that this is not a game..., it's a very sobering moment for them. That's one of the reasons, right now, that the proposed 700+ billion dollar bailout machine has stalled. Because "we" are mad as hell, and we're not going to let them get away with another government tax-funded boondoggle. The citizens of our country are ANGRY. WE are putting the squeeze on this deal by rattling the cages of our local representatives and letting them know we don't like this at all. The best alternative, in my opinion, is a complete elimination of the capital gains tax.  When our government no longer punishes you for making investment profits, investments will sky rocket like never before. Cut the payroll tax in half, and you will see new jobs grow like never before. There are so many positive, uplifting ways to move this economy without creating a new 700 billion dollar bureaucracy, and they all take the form of LESS GOVERNMENT involvement.

JOE BIDEN FLUBS HIS WAY THROUGH LIFE . WE DON'T NEED HIM ONE HEARTBEAT AWAY FROM BEING PRESIDENT

Joe Biden is a master of verbal flubs. I think we need to nickname him Flubber. If you remember, there was an old television series called Flipper about a dolphin who somehow could communicate using those static squeeky noises that Dolphins typically make, and be understood by the boys who befriended him. Flipper seemed to have a better grasp of communication skills than poor old Joe Biden does. Since I have more respect for Flipper's skills than I do for Joe's, I will refer to Joe as Flubber, the verbally challenged human version of Flipper. Let's review some of Flubber's famous verbal flubs.

* "You got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

The "FIRST"? Wow...

* “You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

Way to go Joe... insult yet another constituency.

* To State Senator Chuck Graham, Joe implored ...: “Chuck, stand up, let the people see you.”

Hey Joe.., did you or your staff happen to notice that Chuck is in a wheelchair? Sheesh!

* "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America", "Quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me"

Hey Joe... we can agree on something! Obama made a terrible pick and showed lack of judgement.

* "We want to take money ...."

Yes Joe... we know.

*.... "and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people."

What about "poor" people Joe? Oh, that's right. You took care of that already. You donated $995 to charity ( $400 of that was an unspecified "non-cash" gift, reducing the real cash donation to $595 )... out of your $360,000.00 income last year. How about this Joe, give up your salary as a politician for the coming year and give it to the middle class instead. Then you don't have to steal it in the form of higher taxes from other people so that you can play a phony santa claus trying to buy votes with liberal income redistribution schemes.

* ...( continuing in his statement about taking money ( through higher taxes) and putting it in the pocket of the middle-class , Joe said..) “It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.”

Thanks Joe. Thanks for helping us all understand what the word "patriotic" means. Paying more taxes. I don't suppose being patriotic would be something like supporting the troop surge, which you declared a "failure". I don't suppose it would be anything like supporting General Petraeus to whom exactly 1 year ago you demanded to end the surge and bring the troops home declaring you had no reason to believe the violence would end in Iraq despite General Petraeus telling you that his commanders see improvement in security and reductions in violence. Who was it, Joe, that was the lone voice on your foreign relations committee who warned that it would be rash to jump to conclusions and force an end to the war? That's right... it was Senator John McCain. Guess what Joe? He was right, you were wrong. You flubbed it again Joe.

So , Flubber Biden, flubbing his way through his Senate career with his ridiculous comments and inept analysis, is now the VP candidate? Good Lord! If Obama wins, Flubber is only one heartbeat away from the Presidency! We simply can't allow Flubber Biden to flub-up the country too! What a scary thought!
