OBAMA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN

Obama Claus is coming to town..., have you been good little boys and girls?  Well then, step right up and sit in his lap and ask Obama Claus for whatever your heart desires.  After all, that's what the President of the United States has transformed into behind the mask of Barack Obama, a gift giving entity who pulls money out of seemingly thin air. Except that this version of Saint Nicholas has far worse in store for you than a lump of coal in your stocking if you're not a good little brainless liberal and don't follow his plan for world peace and economic happiness. Obama Claus has been circling above the country in his magic tax-powered sleigh pulled by bloated egomaniacs .. "on Nancy ,on Barney, on Barbara and Harry...., "... and has been declaring from the top of his lungs... “A failure to act, and act now ( meaning a failure to pass his grease pit of a plan to socialize the country with massive liberal welfare and confiscation of private industry), will turn crisis into a catastrophe and guarantee a longer recession, a less robust recovery, and a more uncertain future.". He goes on to say "... I can tell you with complete confidence that a failure to act will only deepen this crisis as well as the pain felt by millions of Americans. the U.S. faces a profound economic emergency".  Gosh, is this how Obama spreads a message of  Hope and Change to the country?  Obama Claus managed to get the cooperation of three liberal ( RINO ) Republicans in the senate to close off debate on the Senate version of the grease pit bill.  Senators Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins got into thier pajamas and slid under the soiled bedsheets with all 58 Democrats on the procedural motion cheering on socialism for the country with a vote of 61 - 38 to smack down any delaying tactics by the Republican conservatives. Obama Claus is determined to give us gifts from his magic sack of tax gold whether we want them or not, all with the end result of making our "economy" ( does he even know what that is..? ) better.  Here's some of the ways Obama Claus is going to use this grease pit bill to ease the suffering of those who are being laid off... with a 50 million dollar injection to the Endowment For the Arts..., 650 million dollars for digital TV coupons, 150 million dollars for the Smithsonian Institution..., 1 billion dollars for the Census bureau ....4.2 billion for "community organizers" such as ACORN... , 400 million for global-warming research...yes... if you are now scratching your heads as to what this does to put Joe The Plumber back in his job, you're not alone. Obama Claus calls it a stimulus package, but what it is in reality is... well... it's in part a tax funded payoff to all of the liberal thugs and kneecappers who pumped up Obama during his campaign and in part an attempt to hide tax funding for government programs that might have otherwise had to face debate on thier own. Sadly for Obama Claus, people are beginning to catch on, and a rising wave of anger over the stinking pile of gut wrenching grease filling this bill is taking hold in the offices of elected officials. Hey... Obama Claus...YOU CAN'T PUT LIPSTICK ON A PIG. Remember that one? This stimulus bill is the biggest pig ever to roll out of DC.  Obama is not only putting lipstick on this stimulus package, he's also putting a ballroom gown, glass slippers and a wig on it and is taking it out to dinner. Any Republican who supports this package should be ashamed. The House Republicans did the right thing by unifying against it. They need to stay strong. While there's no doubt that we are in the midst of a cultural/political war for the salvation of our free market economy, I still find myself immensely amused at the precariously balanced agenda of the Obama administration. Everything that he has instigated since taking office is leading to a showdown. He's building up a tower of socialism on styrofoam pillars and simply has no ability to hide what he's doing except by distracting people with populist class warfare. I sincerely believe he will turn out to be one of the worst Presidents our country has ever had to endure.

WHY BOTHER VOTING?

No one can tell you what you think, no one can tell you how to vote, and in this country no one can tell you that your vote doesn't matter.  Right now, all the pundits have declared the election over. They have already decided, based on opinion polls, what states have been won by which candidate. This is nothing but a farce and an attempt to depress voter turnout.  Remember, an opinion poll is not fact. It is opinion based on a how a small sample of  people answers some crafted polling questions.  The only factual data regarding who wins what states in this election is the data from the real ballots marked by the electorate on election day. Until the ballots are counted and the electoral votes officially scored, no one can make any official claim that one state or another is not in contention. Opinion polls count for absolutely nothing at all in our election process. Rassmussen, Gallop, Wall Street Journal, et al.., are not mentioned in the constitution, and while they have a right to print opinion polls they have no right to have thier data be given any measure of trust and validity. Whatever value thier opinion polls are given is solely up to you. Personally I don't consider polls at all. I don't let movie critics decide what movies I'll watch, and I don't let food critics decide what restaurants I'll patronize.  I make my own choices. If you are someone who makes your own decisions in life, then ignore what the pundits want you to believe and go vote for whoever you feel is best. When the President takes the oath of office he swears an oath to defend and uphold the constitution.  As citizens we should do the same. It is our role to defend the vaules and principles that formed this nation as a land free from the tyranny of monarchy and gives every citizen a voice with the ability to choose our leaders.

A VICTORY FOR IGNORANCE - A DANGER FOR EVERYONE

There's nothing more dangerous to our political institutions than ignorant voters. Whether corralled and herded to the voting booth by voter cattle drives as means of mindlessly stuffing the ballot box, or well intentioned citizens who want to do thier civic duty and vote but don't pay attention until 24 hours before election day and only know the candidates by a few quick commercial sound bites. To potentially tip the balance of any election of the leadership of our country based on a mass of ignorant uninformed voters is a genuine shame, especially when it doesn't have to happen that way. Dissemination of facts to the public is what an election campaign should be all about. The rest of it is up to us, the average "informed" citizen standing on a soap box and spreading the news to as many friends and neighbors and associates as possible, and finally to the individual who intends to vote.., to take the steps necessary to learn all they can about the candidates. But we live in a time of instant gratification and an overflow of information coming at us from all angles Where we expect that anything we need to know can be learned in minutes. The age of information has made it imperative to take time. to step back, and try to discern truth, from innuendo, from outright lies.  But today anyone can be made to seem as if they are providing legitimate information because once trustworthy sources of news have become tainted outposts of biased opinion and very few of the politically ignorant people bother to check facts and look for corroboration. Also, with the advent of a massive influx of information, attention spans have dwindled.  There is so much distraction that staying focused is now a real effort. It's become easy to wander off into a maze of misinformation. If Barack Obama ends up winning this election, it will be a victory of ignorance, a triumph of distraction from fact, and evidence that we have a lot of work to do to make politics a more important matter for a large segment of our population.

POLLING DATA - DYING IS OUR ONLY CHOICE

Well, the trend with pundits and pollsters is now this. They say... "If Obama wins...., X.....,( X being whatever state they think will decide it all).... then it's all over. Go home, go to bed, give it up all of you Republicans". So, we are supposed to keep an eye on either Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Virginia..., or whatever..., you name it..., and if we see Obama winning that particular state then we shouldn't bother voting , it's just a waste of time to try, and we should go home and prepare for an Obama presidency. Rassmussen was trying this nonsense today on Fox News, "If Virginia breaks early for Obama.... it's all over"..., he says. Others say, "If Obama wins Pennsylvania it's over", "If Obama wins Florida it's over", and of course none of them think McCain has any chance anyways. So why bother having an election? According to pundits all we need to know is told to us in the current polls. Since the polls are treated the same as if the actual voting has already taken place, lets just average all the opinion polls right now, and give the presidency this afternoon to whoever is ahead, which of course will be Obama. Then we don't have to "waste" our time being involved in our country's future by exercising our constitutional right to vote, we can just let pollsters decide who will win based on the response to thier crafted opinion poll questions. And why stop at the Presidential election? Let's do this for all elections at the state level, as well as elected judges, sheriffs...., Polls for Everyone. We can change the name of our country to Poll-land! This will guarantee that the Democrats win every time in a national election since national polling data is always weighted in favor of Democrats. And since that will be the case, there's no point in any opposition party, so we may as well disband the Republican party, and we may as well stop criticizing anything Democrats do since that won't change the polling data.  Freedom of the press or free speech basically becomes a moot point. And since we would have no control over our destiny, why bother working? The government will be taking care of everything that the old-fashioned idea of independence and free market Capitalism once offered to citizens. So that's it. Then why bother living?  The government under Democrat domination will legalize assisted suicide and make Dr. Jack Kevorkian's death machines available to everyone, and we can just slip out of existence as our country melts down into a socialist cesspool of failing systems that were meant to feed, clothe, house and care for us all from the cradle to the grave. With no incentive to achieve more than mediocrity we will finally fall from being a superpower to being a third world nation that can't afford to sustain itself under an ever increasing tax burden. Isn't this great?  This is basically what we can look forward to ,if we simply put all our faith in pollsters. Personally, I don't care who says "it's over", it isn't over until the votes are counted. They can try to tell me I shouldn't bother voting, but they won't succeed in delivering that sucker punch to "me".  I intend to be the first one in line at my local polling station on election day. And if the pollsters and pundits don't appreciate it, they can know where they can stick thier polling data.

MCCAIN HAS TO SELL TONIGHT - HE HAS TO SELL THE TRUTH TO THE PUBLIC

One of the typical problems with McCain's stump speeches is thier tendancy to become flaccid. Actually, today he was rather lively. He had some of that energy and tenacity showing through , like those images we all saw of him carrying his bags by himself through the airport during the primaries as he pressed forward with his campaign even when he couldn't afford to maintain a campaign staff. Look, the one thing McCain has in great abundance is personal courage... ( though it would have been nice to see some of that come through by defying the bailout bill)..., and if I had to choose who I wanted on my side in a fight, I'd choose McCain at his 72 years of age over the much younger Obama any day. Can you picture a boxing match between those two?  Obama would be down in the first round.  John McCain is an enigma.  As Conservatives, we are perpetually flabbergasted at the times when he leans left and becomes essentially a Democrat, yet we love his patriotism and his reverence of the military , his sacrifices for the country, his pro life stance, his distaste for overspending..., and then we scratch our heads at his desire to consult Al Gore on how to approach global warming. Maverick isn't quite the right word for it. He doesn't see himself as owing loyalty to a political party, and often bristles at the notion that he might be on the wrong side of an issue.  He's stubborn, independent, and loyal to what he feels is the best interest of the country.  Not a Conservative, not a Liberal, but he's not in the middle either.  When he goes in one direction or the other, he goes all the way.  That's actually a comforting thought in one respect. McCain is not wishy-washy, he is confident in his ability to choose the best course of action even if all the rest of us might have a problem with the choice he made. A leader must have confidence in his ( or her) ability to lead.  I know McCain has that. He's always had that. I've seen nothing of that in Obama. The other thing we can say without fear of contradiction is that McCain is honest about his position , regardless of who disagrees with him. He has fair reasons to back up his positions, even if there might be better reasons he should "not"be taking that position, such as the McCain Feingold bill..., McCain-Kennedy bill...etc.  So, McCain has self confidence, a proven ability to lead, and honesty. He also has the experience in world affairs.  Obama strikes out on all four of those.  John McCain was never my first choice as Republican candidate for President, but he's a far better runner up than Barack Obama.  McCain doesn't have to do a lot to sell himself, most people have heard of him and know more about him than the other sitting Senators.  But he does have to sell something tonight at the debate.  He needs to strip the varnish off Obama and lay bare the real product underneath. He needs to expose the real danger of an Obama presidency and sell that danger to the public. He needs to do it by sharply contrasting what he would do to protect the country, the economy, and our social values with how Obama would destroy those things.  McCain is capable of making the sale, if  he simply gets past his desire to have liberals love him.  I think he's getting to that point. All during his campaign he's been trying hard to prove he does not have a temper, to prove his critics wrong about his quick fuse.  Well, tonight he needs to let a little of that temper lose, in a positive way, to show his passion for leading this country in the right direction and for driving home the point that Obama will lead us into a train wreck.

DON'T BE SWAYED - POLLS ARE DESIGNED TO STOP YOU

It's crunch time with 4 weeks to go to the election. All the polls are favoring Obama. But here is what the polls don't show. According to Ramussen Reports ,the general voting public in July of 2008 was about 31.6% Republican, 39.2% Democrat ( a difference of 7.6%), with the rest claiming to be moderates. In August the numbers changed, 33.2% Republican and 38.9% Democrat ( a difference of 5.7%). The interesting trend is that since May of this year, the number of Democrats has steadily declined from a high of 41.7% down to the current 38.9%, while registered Republicans have increased over that same period from 31.6% to 33.2%.  The shift in the differential of party affiliation since May is significant. In May the Democrats had a 10.1% advantage in ranks, as of now that has dwindled down to a 5.7% advantage.  The trend in rising voter ranks leans to the Republican party. If every Republican party member votes on election day for McCain/Palin, the best that Democrat voters will be able to muster if all are on board with Obama is a 5.7% difference advantage. That leaves the moderates and independents and perhaps some swing voters in the Democrat ranks.  In March of this year Gallup Poll reported that a very significant number of voters in the Democrat ranks stated that they would vote for McCain if thier candidate did not win the nomination.  In surveying Independents who lean Democrat and Conservative Democrats they found ... "Almost 4 out of 10 voters in these two groups who support Clinton say they would vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee." As recently as September 10th  Independents alone were favoring McCain over Obama by 46% to 31% according to a Fox news poll. There is plenty of reason to be optimistic about the outcome in November if you don't allow yourself to buy into the "conventional wisdom" of the liberal press that wants this to be over right now and to anoint Obama as the next President.
In an investigation by the Pew Research Center they came up with the following analysis.  The national press runs about 34% liberal and local press about 23% liberal for a total of 57% liberal press. Conservative press is about 7% nationally and 12% in local markets. NBC CNN CBS REUTERS all have liberal bents to thier reporting. They want Obama to win and will promote an Obama lead in the polling data as meaning the election is over and claim Obama to be victorious prematurely. But as they do that, they will prove themselves wrong. They always underestimate the drive of the Republican base when it's energized, and I am confident that it is. Whether you simply shudder at the thought of an Obama presidency, or are a full fledged McCain advocate, or even just excited about Sarah Palin bringing  Conservative values to DC, there is only one poll that actually counts, the poll you officially cast your vote at in this November's election. A FLUMMOXED CONGRESS - A TOXIC BAILOUT BILL

I waited up very late last night, intent on hearing what our Republican House congressmen had to say about the bailout bill.  Admittedly I was disappointed when they seemed to be stating they had found common ground with the Democrats and President Bush on getting the bill passed. We got a reprieve today for a few reasons.  One, House Republicans got peeved. Pelosi redressed the President and "Republicans" as the cause of the downfall of Fannie-Mae and Freddie-Mac... when in fact "Democrats" were heavily to blame for that fiasco. Secondly, a bunch of frightened Democrats were getting rattled by thier constituents and by seeing the Republicans close ranks to fight Pelosi.  A significant number of Democrats did not want the bailout bill to pass as a "Democrat" bill, they wanted Republican cover and with a large number of Republicans voting no.., they chickened out.  What this means, is that the country wins this round..., for now. So if that's the case, why the panic in the stock market?  Exactly because congress seeded false promises of freedom from bad debt that it should NEVER have promised in the first place.  SO everything was waiting to swing up or down on the basis of a boondoggle bill being bantered about the House. Yes, that's right. CONGRESS caused the panic and the dips in the DOW by playing games with tax money. This bailout bill is toxic. Our congress is toying with investors. This is the idiocy of socialism in full bloom, and it hasn't even passed yet! There is a chance for House Republicans to stomp this bill out by locking ranks right now and refusing any part of it.  And if McCain leads that rally, he'll be a hero.  Unfortunately, that sort fo courage is scarce on Capitol Hill.  We'll simply have to hope someone steps up to do the right thing and keep this bill down. Now, Pelosi... has the Audacity of Hope... to call for bi-partisanship. She must truly think the Republicans are dopes. Pelosi is the Lizze Borden of congress weilding Partisanship like an axe.
